Google Debuts Voice And Image Search For Mobile And Desktop - Coming Soon in Pakistan

Mountain View, California -- In its relentless quest to maintain its position as the de facto resource for searching information on the Internet, global search engine behemoth Google Inc. debuted an array of enhancements to its flagship search box on Tuesday, with new features for both mobile searchers, desktop searchers adding voice queries, drag-and-drop image search and background preloading of the top result page to make search faster and more interesting.

The company, on Tuesday at its Inside Search event in San Francisco, took the wraps off several new features that has bolstered its world-domineering search service once again, alongside minor updates to its mobile web search functionality.

First up, the voice search service for desktop computers, which the Web giant launched, which was earlier available on mobile platforms like iOS and Android is now available on desktop computers.

Voice Search on the desktop moves computing one step closer to the natural user interface that has been the holy grail of computing for decades. With Voice Search, people query Google by speaking aloud. A tiny mic icon appears in the search bar. When clicked, a built-in or hooked-up mic will let you bark out some search terms and Google will pop off to find results online.

"The lust for knowledge does not ends when you step away from your computer, it continues on your mobile device." "In the past year alone, Voice Search traffic has grown six-fold, and every single day people speak more than two years' worth of voice to our system," Google fellow Amit Singhal said in a blog post.

A Google employee demonstrated the power of the voice analysis with complex requests like "pictures of the yellow-bellied warbler" and "weather for Schenectady, New York". The speech recognition feature is useful for difficult-to-spell words and long phrases, according to Google.

Basically, Voice Search on desktop works by utilizing Google's Speech API and will be available to anyone using Chrome 11 in English when it is "released over the next week", Johanna Wright, Google's director of search product management, said in another blog post. The feature, which will be released for 40 languages, also requires a working internal or external microphone. And, for now, it is only available in U.S. English.

"We have endowed tremendous energy into improving the quality of our recognition technology -- for instance, today we teach our English Voice Search system using 230 billion words from real queries so that we can accurately recognize the phrases people are likely to say," Singhal wrote.

In an interview, Singhal said Google's voice recognition technology is far beyond search and that the company wishes to make voice input a ubiquitous component of computing, and will eventually become a staple of services like Google Docs.

Olympus E-PL2 4G manual camera Reviews

Micro Four Thirds cameras sit comfortably in their own little niche, both in price and performance, between high-end point-and-shoots and beginner-level digital SLRs. They boast interchangeable lenses, large sensors and retro-cool styling, so they appeal to people who are serious about photography and can wax poetic about the compact lines of a vintage Leica.

They are also a great stepping stone for the point-and-shoot person who wants to become a better photographer. And their small form factors make them an excellent antidote for the SLR owner suffering from “heavy camera bag” syndrome.
The new E-PL2 joins the growing family of other Micro Four Thirds models from Olympus. It has a svelte metal-composite body, gorgeous high-resolution 3-inch LCD viewfinder and enhanced low-light performance. It’s a welcome upgrade to the E-PL1 and viable alternative the more expensive E-P2.
This fourth-generation Olympus Pen sports a 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor, which is roughly eight times larger than the sensor in your average point-and-shoot camera. The larger sensor provides better image quality and low-light performance, similar to that of a digital SLR.
The E-PL2 also pumps up the ISO to 6400, making it great for night photography. The fastest shutter speed has also been increased to 1/4000th of a second to help you freeze action and use fast lenses in bright light.
Other internal updates include eye-detection for more accurate focusing of portrait shots, a live-guide feature for viewing effects in real time, and an updated suite of artistic filters — in-camera effects that give your pictures that Lomo warmth, or an old-timey, grainy black-and-white vibe.
The live guide is intended to show you how altering the camera’s settings can change the picture, and it’s meant for those first learning photography. Unfortunately, it hides what is actually being changed. For example, it shows a slider to “change background focus” instead of explaining how f-stops work. The artistic filters are fun, but the plethora of desktop and online applications available to spruce up your images make them somewhat redundant.
The E-PL2 ships with a new M. Zuiko 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens (28-84mm equivalent) that works during movie or still shooting and has a very snappy response time. The lens collapses for storage but must be extended to roughly double its stored size when in use.
The results from the supplied lens were better than expected for a kit lens. The beauty of the Micro Four Thirds standard is the wide variety of adapters, which allow other manufacturers’ lenses to be used. The Pen’s body is just screaming to be mated with a classic manual-focus Leica or Voitlanger lens. Old manual lenses still benefit from E-PL2’s image stabilization, which is internal and sensor-based.
One very welcome new feature is the redesigned case. The grip is more comfortable, and the E-PL2 feels solid in hand. Holding it evokes a feeling of nostalgia for a classic rangefinder film camera with its pleasant heft and balance. The front half of the camera and the lens mount are both constructed of metal, the body is cast and the mount is machined. The rear case material is a hard plastic, but it’s nearly indistinguishable from the metal of the front. It feels like a high-quality, professional camera.
The most striking difference between the E-PL2 and the older Pen models is the new LCD viewfinder. It’s larger than the E-PL1’s LCD and doubles the pixels of the E-PL1 and E-P2. Doubling the resolution providing readable text and menus, especially when you use the manual focus.
As to menus, the software user interface is good, but not intuitive, and the navigation wheel takes some getting used to.
Some interesting new Olympus accessories snap into the E-PL2’s hot shoe, including a dual-headed light for macro photography and a Bluetooth dongle for beaming photos directly to your mobile device. Dubbed the PENpal, the Bluetooth nub plugs into the camera’s hot shoe and AP2 accessory port, allowing the camera to send photos wirelessly and without a desktop computer.
Currently the PENpal can only transmit photos to Android and Windows 7 Mobile devices — no iOS devices yet.

All in all, the Olympus E-PL2 is a solid camera and a great addition to the Olympus Pen line. The large sensor captures beautiful photos, especially in low light. The 3-inch LCD viewfinder is bright and rich with detail. The camera’s construction just feels right, and it’s sheer pleasure to shoot with it. SLR owners will like the quality of images the E-PL2 captures and how light and compact it is.
If you’re in the market for a micro-four thirds camera, the E-PL2 is a smart buy, especially compared to its bigger, more expensive brothers.
Good: Beautiful, high-resolution 3-inch LCD. Enhanced low-light performance (ISO 6400) and shutter speed (4000). Sturdy, solid construction with a pleasing feel in the hand. Just begs for classic, fast Leica glass. Good value for the price, especially compared to the E-P2.
Bad: Kit lens has a funky retractable barrel. PENPal only works on Android and Windows 7 mobiles, so iOS junkies are out of luck. Back of case is plastic, although it’s hard to tell.

Price: $600

The Samsung Omnia 7 handset will offer access to Xbox LOVE and Zune directly from the handset. The receiver will be obtainable in the hue of black, blue and and many more colour and seems to be a good option for those looking for a high-end handset with interesting and outstanding looks.
No wonder then, the Samsung I8700 Omnia 7 has no choice but to be the Galaxy S of the new Windows phones. It has the same 4 inches of a gorgeous Super AMOLED screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon powerplant and it captures 5 megapixel photos and records HD videos. If there was one thing to hold against the I9000 Galaxy S it had to be the plastic finish. But Samsung listened to their customers and gave theOmnia 7 the same get-up as the first Bada phone.

1.FM radio is limited
The Samsung Omnia 7 also has a built in FM radio with a dead simple interface. You have the current frequency in very large digits – swiping left and right changes the frequency and a swipe and release automatically searches for the next available station in that direction.

2.Camera is great 5MP snapper
The Samsung Omnia 7 has a 5MP autofocus camera and maximum image resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. It is accompanied by an LED flash. The camera UI is pretty simple – you have your viewfinder and some controls on the right. From top to bottom they are the still/video camera toggle, virtual zoom buttons and an extended settings menu.
Connectivity is frustratingly limited
Samsung recently have a good track record with connectivity and they didn’t disappoint. Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE are a given, but there’s dual-band 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA too. Wi-Fi b/g/n is supported, which makes theOmnia 7 compatible with a wide range of Wi-Fi networks.

3.Bluetooth is “just” v2.1 (we were expecting v3.0) but other than that wireless connectivity is well supported.
Transferring files between a computer and a Windows Phone 7 mobile could be a problem. Microsoft’s decision to cut out mass storage functionality (and lack of microSD card slot on theOmnia 7) mean that you need the Zune app on your computer to easily transfer files.
It allows syncing over USB or Wi-Fi and this is the only option to transfer files directly from your phone to your computer. Or you can use SkyDrive to transfer files – a free Microsoft service that gives you 25GB free cloud storage. You can even have your photos automatically uploaded as soon as you snap them.
Windows Phone 7 is also very picky about what kind of files you can attach to email or upload to a site – and videos weren’t among them. Nor Office documents for that matter, which is a major issue.

Video Game 2011 hunt kill and osama Bin ladin

NEW YORK: A new video game that allows players to hunt and kill Osama bin Laden has been launched, less than a week after US commandos shot the al-Qaeda leader. The online game called Osama 2011: The Death of Osama bin Laden is the brainchild of New York-based developers who released the video on Saturday, just five days after Navy Seal operatives stormed the compound of the fugitive terrorist leader in Abbottabad.
Players have five minutes to navigate a maze of rooms, locked doors and hazardous gas cylinders and then shoot bin Laden.

They must also carry his body, gather intelligence on al-Qaeda and destroy a downed US helicopter that sits ablaze in the compound.

Players also have the option of defending bin Laden.

Airports scanning X-ray proof underwear

An underwear to protect passengers' modesty when they walk through airport full-body scanners could soon become a reality. Steve Bradshaw, 54, has invented underwear and vests - for men and women - that are covered with a special paint made from a mixture of metals and glass. The T-shirt printer claims the coating masks body parts but still allows operators to see dangerous objects such as guns, knives and explosives.
He was inspired after being questioned by armed police and missing a flight when he refused to enter a 'naked scanner' at Manchester airport earlier this year, the Daily Mail reports.
"The machines operate at different wavelengths and the pants contain materials which react to radiation at different wavelengths," Bradshaw said.
"I have been for 35 years in screen printing and I know about inks and what they are made from. I ended up making a coating which is a printable plastic ink. It reflects back and scatters the X-rays and is printed in a pattern," he said.
"Small cut-outs in the design allow a large metal object or gun to show up the operator's screen. I believe it is a compromise because it diffuses the image, allowing dangerous items to be seen without showing graphic detail."
Passengers are randomly selected to go through the X-ray scanners at several British airports. Under government legislation, anyone who refuses is turned away.
Bradshaw, from Poynton near Stockport, is yet to test his underwear with a scanner but has written to the Department of Transport to seek approval.
An official replied that the government would not endorse his underwear but "this would not stop" him from developing his design.
Nick Bowring, a scanner expert at Manchester Metropolitan University, believes Bradshaw's technology could work.

Nokia Windows cell Phone 7 Smartphones in 2011

There are some tech industry rumors that simply refuse to die, and today it’s the turn of Nokia and a potential Windows Phone 7 device that’s getting raked over the coals once more. According to sources Microsoft and Nokia have been holding ongoing talks regarding a Nokia-branded Windows Phone 7 smartphone range.
The meetings were at the prompt of newly-instated Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, who is the ex-head of Microsoft Business. He suggests that the first Nokia WP7 devices will reach Europe in Q2 2011, with the “characteristic features” of the Finnish company’s products.
The concept has been well raked-over since Elop took over from ex-CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, but Nokia has staunchly denied any such intentions to look to Android or Windows Phone 7 rather than continuing with its two-pronged Symbian and MeeGo approach.
