Federal Cabinet resigns

ISLAMABAD: The members of the federal cabinet on Wednesday offered his resignation to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani after Party (PPP) of the ruling Pakistan People's Central Executive Committee (CEC) has the power to close the cabinet premier.

PPP sources said, less than a dozen ministers will be sworn in the first phase of the formation of a new, smaller cabinet. Addressing the 76th session of the outgoing cabinet to the home of Prime Minister Gilani has welcomed the cabinet members to achieve greater success in their respective departments, expressing gratitude for their help in improving governance in all areas.

"Today's meeting will be the last cabinet meeting today. I can very proudly say that your performance since March 31, 2008, was very satisfactory given the difficult circumstances under which we worked throughout this period, "said the Prime Minister.

According to sources in the first phase, eight ministers of the PPP, including Muhammad Nazar Gondal, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Naveed Qamar, while two new faces Faisal Raza Abidi senator and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fouzia Wahab as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting would be included in the kit.
