MQM pushes govt to reduce oil prices - Daily Times
ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) sprang into action on Sunday to push the government for reduction in the prices of petroleum products, which were hiked enormously a couple of days back. A three-member delegation of the MQM met Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to discuss hike in the rates of petroleum products, which has burdened the masses heavily. The delegation included Dr Farooq Sattar, Wasim Akthar and Abdul Qadir Khanzada. Although a firm assurance for any possible reduction in the prices could not be secured from the government, a member of the delegation confided to Daily Times that the government was very responsive to the reservations of MQM about the latest price increase. When asked about any future strategy of the party in case the government failed to honour its demand, the member avoided commenting on it.
